One of the most important things we need to develop, in any journey of healing and growth, is the certainty that discomfort is not danger.

This matters because our potential to grow is limited by our ability to heal. Everything that grows, grows outwards - little bits at a time - from that which is already alive and healthy. If we are not healing, we cannot continue growing.

Healing requires confronting things which are uncomfortable - probably even painful.

We cannot fully heal what we cannot fully feel.

To truly allow ourselves to grow, then, requires that we first learn to handle being with our own pain.
